Douglas Barry York was a collector who loved the North Queensland gold fields, its history and he himself scrambled all over the numerous locations where the gold was found. His stories of local aboriginals and the Chinese legacy were numerous as were his own golden dreams that filled many of our evenings, spent together - and we didn't even need to smoke the stuff . . .
